Then the black screen problems with Crossover are based on the map being black screened which isn't my issue. I've looked through countless forums for an answer however, it seems no one else has experienced this issue with Crossover, only people who purchased the game through Microsoft and that's fixable through the Microsoft store and graphics card deactivation (which as far as I understand can't be done on Macbook Air). Next, I tried minimising it into a window, which didn't do anything and I tried resetting the width and height through Launch Commands and surprise surprise it once again did not work. Just a black screen which starts as windowed then enters the full screen. Now the game will launch but the startup is just a black screen, no music and no cursor recognition of anything clickable. Initially, when opening the game it stated that it couldn't because I wasn't running Directx11, I tried -dxlevel90 through Steam Launch Commands and Crossover Launch Commands but neither of those worked. I had googled playing AoE as downloaded from Steam and it seemed possible so I took the plunge and bought it, downloaded Steam in Crossover and then downloaded AoE through Steam. I downloaded Rollercoaster Tycoon a couple of weeks ago and was able to run it using Crossover, and Wine Devel so I know it can be done with some games at least and that my operating system is not incompatible with Crossover.
